Baby ships can be constructed using the starting items in your inventory or hotbar. Pressing [X] in an open area will spawn a ship core. You will be prompted to enter a name for your ship in doing so. Currently, space characters may not be used in the ship's name, but underscores serve a similar functionality. As of now, you may not change the name of your ship after titling it, however this is a planned feature in future iterations of the game.
After naming your ship, you may enter the core by targeting it with the mouse reticle and pressing [R]. Once you have done this, press [space] to enter build mode. In this mode, the player may "fly" using [WASD] and the [Q] and [E] keys to move down and up, respectively. The player may manouevre about the ship core and place necessary blocks by using the left mouse button, and remove them with the right mouse button. While in build mode, a red, green and blue arrow will appear when your reticle hovers over the core. The direction of this arrow indicates the direction in which the front of the block will face, and by default is set to align with the direction in which the ship will fly. A similar arrow to that of the block can be seen at the top of the screen while in build mode, and this indicates the direction of the ship core. By using these arrows, be careful so as not to place blocks on the incorrect side of your ship.
Learning to FlyEdit
In order to fly your ship, it is first necessary to provide a power supply for your thrusters. In your standard starting inventory there should be six xm3.4 Power blocks and six Hyperflux Coil Thruster blocks.
Even the most basic ships will require the following: a power supply, propulsion, protection and weapons because how can someone enjoy flying in space without going "pew-pew"? So, to start with, place power blocks on your ship. The bar on the bottom-right will fill up, meaning your ship is powered. To use this power add thrusters. Now your ship is ready for flight! The next thing you should add are weapons. All weapons currently correspond to specific controller blocks. You should start with anti-matter cannons and a weapons controller. Place these on your ship and they will be blue, if it is connected correctly (the more you connect, the more powerful your weapon becomes). Once you've placed some of these, hit [t] (this will open up the weapons menu), click on the weapons controller in the list and press a number on your keyboard to bind your antimatter cannon to.
And just like that your ship is ready for its maiden voyage into the infinite abyss and darkness of space!
